I have coloured my hair for many years and my hair is in desperate need of some TLC. Have you got any products that would help repair the damage done? - 10/16/2009
Hair Colouring (including highlighting) of the hair can indeed damage the hair, causing dryness and affecting the natural lustre and elasticity of your hair. It can also cause the hair to tangle more easily. There are a number of ways that this damage can be minimised while at the same time ensuring that the colour does not fade too quickly (money down the drain!).

Even before heading to the hairdresser ensure your hair is well conditioned in readiness for your colour treatment. An excellent pre-colouring conditioner is [Al’chemy] Macadamia & Wheat Protein Treatment Conditioner – it has an extraordinarily high level of hydrolysed wheat protein which is powerfully hydrating and protecting. The better the condition of your hair pre-colouring the less affect the colouring chemicals will have on the condition of your hair in the longer term.

You then want that colour to last. This is best accomplished by using shampoos which are both gentle (harsh shampoos including anti-dandruff shampoos can quickly strip out the colour) and contain colour protective ingredients. The best [Al’chemy] shampoo to use would be the Ylang Ylang Colour Care Shampoo, which contains high levels of a glutamate ingredient which protects the hair cuticle.

Intensive conditioning is also vital as this not only protects against oxidation, on of the main causes of colour fade, but also nourishes, smoothes and brings back the natural lustre and bounce to colour treated hair. One of the most beneficial treatments (award winning at that!) is to use [Al’chemy] Ginkgo & Jojoba Intensive Moisture Vitamin Hair Masque. This amazing product is packed full of amino acids, proteins, vitamins, nutrients, anti-oxidants and blood flow stimulants –heaven for hair!

What is Eczema and which products should I use? - 6/23/2009
Eczema is a chronic inflammatory condition of the upper layers of the skin. The most common things that will trigger eczema are allergies, both food and environmental, as well as emotional and physical stress and climatic changes. The three main common features of eczema that distinguish it from other ailments are dry skin, sore rash and itchiness.

The following products may be recommended for eczema sufferers. However, as with all sensitive skin users, it is advisable to do a skin patch test by applying small amount on inside of your arm. Wash off immediately should irritation occur.

[A'kin] Unscented, Very Gentle Shampoo
[A'kin] Unscented, Wheat Free Very Gentle Conditioner
[A'kin] Unscented, 24 Hour Pure Moisture

Fight signs of Ageing - The Natural Way! (A note from Will Evans, founder and cosmetic chemist of The Purist Company) - 9/17/2008
From the moment we are born, free radicals from our environment and lifestyle attack our skin causing ageing. Skin loses its suppleness and elasticity leading to fine lines and wrinkles.

It is important to concentrate on anti-oxidant enriched products designed to directly combat these effects. Anti-oxidants act as scavengers, helping to prevent cell and tissue damage that leads to ageing and disease. Alpha lipoic acid is a particularly potent natural anti-oxidant which has the added benefit of being able to “recycle” used anti-oxidants.

Our [A’kin] skin care range offers the purest ingredients from nature and features moisturises which are rich in vitamins and anti-oxidants such as alpha lipoic acid and omega 9, 3 & 6 EFAs (essential fatty acids). These include:

[A’kin] Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil, certified organic is rapidly absorbed and uses only the highly concentrated rosa canina seeds as its source
[A’kin] Rose de Mai, Anti-oxidant Day Crème, an anti-wrinkle crème to keep your skin feeling smooth and fresh
[A’kin] Lavender & Rose, Repairing Anti-oxidant Night Crème, a rich yet light crème which adds moisture and vitality to the skin
[A’kin] Unscented, 24 Hour Pure Moisture with soothing actives to comfort and deeply moisturise your skin
[A’kin] White Tea & Aloe, Vital Hydration Gel Crème with olive extract, aloe vera, anthyllis extract and white tea for combination and oily skin.
Also enriched with Vitamin A, B5, C & E, these nourishing face cremes are encapsulated in a time-release system, gradually feeding these essential nutrients to your skin over 12 hours, maintaining constant effectiveness for maximum results against the appearance of wrinkles. A’kin will increase skin suppleness and encourage a smooth, youthful complexion, making you look and feel younger.

To help reduce the appearance of dark circles, puffiness and fine lines around the fragile eye area try:

[A’kin] White Tea & Cornflower, Soothing & Relaxing Eye Day Gel which also includes powerful anti-oxidants to soothe and moisturise the fragile eye area (also great to use as an eye makeup base)
[A’kin] Ginkgo & Chamomile, Revitalising Eye Night Crème, a nourishing unscented night crème which works while you sleep as it provides rich ingredients to revitalise the tissue and leave skin around your eyes feeling smooth
Don’t forget - some other easy tips to maximise care for you and your skin:

Drink ample filtered water
Enjoy a healthy and balanced diet
Exercise regularly to maintain bone density and fight osteoporosis
